Epona
In tribute to Epona
Well known in
Ancient literature,
Through out the land
A bringer of dreams in
Legend and theatre.
In Celtic Gaul -
Lie her roots,
So sing the sacred bards
Magick tales
Harmonic flutes.
Bestow did she upon
The ancient Celtic Kings,
Rights to Sovereignty
Through her wedding rings.
As hero
her Irish name was Maree,
As ruler
led the pagan Roman Calvary.
The Archetype of Fertility,
Abundance and Prosperity.
Her white horse the imagery,
Totem and spiritual mastery.
Recline did she in full capacity
Upon him with intensity
Serpent symbol to sexual tenacity
Though she could bring to dreams
Detriments of times past
Traveling with her dog at her side
And corn ear upon her lap
She rarely came for to harm
Blessing the harvest though she be armed
Protector of children and of forest friends
She brings peace as well her right to defend
Enshrined by the pagan folk in Rome
So sing their Bards of Olde
Goddess Epona always rode alone
Her Legend and Light still live on
Celtic memories are now her home

Though it is still debated by some scholars as to where the Celtic (Keltoi) people came from, it is agreed to by most that they have Nordac ancestry. As such, I present my poem; "Epona" © Sep 2007, Maylynn Hughes
