A Desert in the Making

I stand afar and watch the meltdown
Throughout these cities and towns
Without a sound
Upon my face - a frown

The lava flow
Spreading its coal
Knows where to go
Not high - but low

I listen to the murmur
this concrete infrastructure
Dissolving to naught - in the temperature
Geo thermal fire - as it swelters

Leaving behind its perspiration
Continuing its path of destruction
Stripping all to its foundation
And then as if in elation

Evaporates
Re-fabricates
All it touches as it mates
Its hunger it seeks to satiate

At last I see this entity
Meet water - become humidity
To pour its heat into infinity
Once again achieve validity

I slowly turn and walk away
my world sizzles in decay
